McRI marked its 50th anniversary this year by hosting and conducting the Inter/Micro conference at its facilities located at 2820 S. Michigan Avenue in Chicago.
Inter/Micro is an internationally recognized conference that attracts microscopists from all areas of light and electron microscopy. Research presentations given during the first three days covered techniques and instrumentation, environmental and industrial microscopy, and forensic and chemical microscopy.
This year’s two-day workshop was Animal Hair Identification taught by Microtrace research microscopist Jason Beckert. Events included three days of research presentations, the Evening with Brian presentation on “Censoring the Cell: How the Microscope is Abused by the Media,” SMSI Awards Dinner, social hour with exhibitors, and our annual photomicrography competition.
