Chicago’s Essex Inn, the Club Quarters, and the Millennium Knickerbocker hotels offer discounted rates to our students, if you mention that you are a McCrone Research Institute student. These hotels do not provide transportation; please plan accordingly.

Reservations need to be made at least 14 days in advance to the course start date at the Essex in order to receive the discounted rate. Club Quarters will honor the discounted rate at any time prior to the course start date. The discounted rate at both hotels is based upon room availability.

The Essex Inn is an intimate hotel providing excellent views of the city, Grant Park and Lake Michigan with access to Chicago’s Magnificent Mile, world-famous museums, sporting venues, the Loop and McCormick Place. One of the focal points of the hotel is the Garden Pool and Fitness Center on the fourth floor rooftop as well as the wireless internet access in all guest rooms.

Club Quarters – two locations in Chicago: 111 W Adams St, 312-214-6400, and 75 E Wacker Drive, reservations: 212-575-0006.

Club Quarters are private, full service hotels designed for the exclusive use of guests and employees of member companies. They offer unique, user-friendly services for the business traveler in a club-like setting. Club Quarters have four room sizes for long or short stays, a restaurant and bar, clubroom, and fitness facility.

Please Note: To ensure your special room rate, bookings must be made directly through the Essex or Club Quarters. For the best results, call directly between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. and be sure to identify yourself as a McCrone Research Institute student. If you cannot call the Essex during business hours, please submit your reservation request to reservations@essexinn.com in order that your reservation receives the McCrone Research Institute special room rate.

Here is a short list of several other hotels in the downtown area that have been used by students in the past. They include:

• The Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel (4 stars; 163 E. Walton Place, 312-751-8100; toll-free 800-621-8140),
• The Hilton Chicago (4 stars; 720 S. Michigan Avenue, 312-822-440),
• The Hyatt Regency McCormick Place (3 stars; 2233 S Martin Luther King Dr, 312-567-1234),

• The Ramada Inn, Lake Shore (2 stars; 4900 S. Lake Shore Drive, 773-288-5800)

  These hotels are not within close walking distance to McRI, but taxi service and public transportation in Chicago are available. Please call 312-842-7100 or e-mail registrar@mcri.org for other hotel recommendations.

  If you plan to drive, the Ramada Inn offers free parking. However since this Ramada is south of downtown Chicago, they are not as well connected to public transportation.

  Most classes end Friday at noon and we suggest that you do not schedule plane departure before 3pm.
